Self-catering accommodation in Magaliesburg

Your hosts - Karin and Walter- welcome you at AmHang self-catering accommodation between Magaliesburg and Rustenburg on Route 24. We speak Afrikaans, English and German.

Magaliesburg

... relax along the slopes of the Magaliesberg Mountains ...

The name AmHang is the translation from Afrikaans ‘Teen die Hang’. This name was given to the upper part of the AmHang portion of the original Farm Wagenpadspruit, near Magaliesburg in the province North-West in South Africa.

AmHang  is quietly nestled along the slopes of the Magalies Mountain range, only 90km west of Johannesburg, 110km from Pretoria.
We offer perfect opportunity for relaxation, and provide for those wishing to explore our naturally unique protected bushveld environment.
MAROPENG and Sterkfontein Caves in the Cradle of Humankind, the famous CANOPY TOURS, the BRAUHAUS AM DAMM offering sumptuous dinner and home-brew german beer, are only some of the many attractions found close to our self catering accommodation.

3 Cottages and a family house  are tucked away amidst large indigenous trees, offering our visitors ample opportunity to discover real quality of life.

Enjoy the cool mountain breeze in the company of nature’s own unique sounds. Where baboons ‘bo-hoo’ with excitement and the late night thrill of jackal’s howl alerts you.

Relax in the plunge pool, laze around your own braai or treat yourself to a light frozen meal available from your host at a price you can afford.

Explore the area’s rich insect- and birdlife, the home of kudu and a variety of small buck. Warthog watches quietly as you walk through the grassland and dense combretum erythrophyllum forest in a donga.

Be rewarded with spectacular views as you wander uphill, disappear in the shade of indigenous forest and enter the ravine to reach the plateau.
Here you find yourselves exposed to the nightly hunting fields of leopard.
So be advised, walk in groups.

Humbled by the beauty of unspoilt nature we abide in harmony.
