Stellenbosch (Western Cape) – Stage Two of the BUCO Origin Of Trails Two-Day MTB Stage Race will take place in Stellenbosch on Sunday, 26 November 2017.

An individual rider race, entrants can choose between three entry options:  Long (+-55km on Saturday and +-58km on Sunday), Medium (+-55km on Saturday and +-29km on Sunday) or Short (+-28km on Saturday and +-29km on Sunday).

Long Course Information:

“Stage Two will also start and finish at the Coetzenburg Soccer Field in Stellenbosch,” says Corrie Muller, BUCO Origin Of Trails Route Designer.  “The route goes straight up and through the farmstead.  A gradual climb will see riders visiting Eden and all the trails that were missed during Stage One.  Turning back, the route will re-enter Coetzenburg with a long descent from the upper end of G-Spot.  Crossing over to 'The Dart’ riders will enjoy this new flowing trail that was designed as part of next year’s Cross-Country (XCO) World Cup.  The section from here is flat and includes a bridge over the Eerste River, constructed just for BUCO Origin Of Trails riders thanks to the boys from Form-Scaff.  A stint through some leafy suburbs will take riders to the big climb of the day.”

“In Botmaskop riders will get to experience the longest possible manicured single track,” continues Muller.  “Hitting the famous Skyfall at 40km an hour is a feast.  After experiencing ‘Jackies’ riders will make their way to the beautiful Banhoek.  Be sure to fill up on the sweet water when crossing the river.  The route then snakes its way up the other side.  After a decent followed by more technical single track riders just might be treated to sightings of Eland and other wild animals.  From here the route turns home through Kylemore and up into Andre`s orchards for a re-entry into Botmaskop.   The first single track is new and dips onto the old downhill course of 1998 and then into G-spot’s little brother. Riders will have a swift surge through the neighborhood with the last single track being along the Eerste River.”
