Meerendal Wine Estate, the host venue for the Epic’s prologue, and leading craft beer producer Cape Brewing Company (CBC), recently announced their co-sponsorship to back new local and international riders in the 700km MTB venture.

Each year, the Cape Epic fuels mountain biking (MTB) lovers’ excitement as legendary and aspiring riding champions set their sights on a podium finish. Meerendal and CBC have recently entered a partnership to gear twelve teams, and add more of the world’s best riders to the Epic’s 2017 line-up.

With the likes of Swiss cross-country MTB rider, 2012 Olympic MTB rider and former Cape Epic (2011) winner, Ether Süss and Swedish National Marathon champion, Jennie Stenerhag, taking part in the women’s race, spectators can positively anticipate announcements of more pinnacle riders.

“Meerendal and CBCs co-sponsorship enables us to be part of the riders’ extraordinary adventure while supporting them from start to finish”, says CBC operation manager, Andy Kung. “The riders’ passion for and endurance during the memorable journey reiterate the love we have for our brands.”

Almost 650 teams will start the Epic’s Western Cape region MTB route in Durbanville (Meerendal), Cape Town on 19 March and speed ahead to the grand finale at Val de Vie in Franschhoek on 26 March 2017.
